St Louis Blues September Newsletter

By Dave Smith (2016) (St. Louis Blues) On Monday 26th September 2022 / 3:10am

After making it all the way to the cup finals, the Blues entered an off-eason of change. Starting with free agency where the club resigned center Anze Kopitar & wingers Milan Lucic and Dillon Dube. Veteran defensmen Erik Gustafsson was signed during free agency to bolster offense from the defense. Also during free agency the team said goodbye to goaltender Carey Price. In the entry draft the team selected forward Klim Kostin and rugged defender Mason Geertsen. During the waiver draft the team added enforcer Kurtis MacDermid to provide some more size and toughness on the back end. The team is looking to acquire a 3rd string goaltender to complete the roster for opening day.

Dallas Sept. 2022 Newsletter - 3rd goalie needed!!!!

By Karl Morgan (since 96) Member BofG (Dallas Stars) On Sunday 18th September 2022 / 10:00pm

Block: no active, but willing to Listen

Needs: 3rd goalie

Well the new season is underway and over the off season the team has made several changes to try and improve the tallent.  They started off by resigning

Hartman, Olofsson and Graves to 4 year deals.  this looks to keep good youg talent within the organization for years to come.   THey then brought in Matt Roy

to help strengthen the blue line.

Then when the draft rolled around (even though it looks to be a weak draft class)  the team selected talented centers in Zetterlund and McBain.  With luck in a

year or two they will be on the pro roster and regular players.  Then another promising 2nd or 3rd line winger in Dahlen was taken in the second round and finally

bottom six winger CHristian Reichel was taken.

FInally the waiver draft took place and the team lost their third string goalie and a depth forward.  But the team was able to add solid depth dman in Meloche and

checking forward Brandon Tanev.

What needs to happen soon is the team needs to add a third goalie to meet league requirements.  THe team is actively looking for a number 3 goalie to replace DeSmith.

Any team that has surplus of gaolies can contact Dallas to work out a deal.

Kings Looking forward to new season

By Mark MacKinnon (2009) (Board Member) (Los Angeles Kings) On Monday 12th September 2022 / 5:13pm

The Kings had an eventful off-season after not making the playoffs last season.

  • They resigned three of their own free agents in Brandon Montour, Jeremy Lauzon, and Michael Rasmussen
  • In free agency, they added Curtis Lazar, Spencer Martin and Christian Wolanin while they reupped Justin Bailey and Joseph Cramarossa
  • The draft was very successful
    • Drafted Matt Boldy 9th overall. Boldy is expected to get big minutes this season.
    • Drafted Erik Kallgren 33rd overall. The Kings goalie depth was poor so they needed to do something about that which started with drafting Kallgren.
    • Also added Gabriel Fortier, Zachary Jones and Jonas Rondbjerg
  • In the Waiver Draft, they added addional offence by acquiring Andreas Atanasiou and shored up the net even more by adding Eric Comrie and Aaron Dell. Both should provide much needed relief to a very busy Frederik Andersen.
  • The most recent transaction saw the Kings trade Phoenix Copley for a 4th round draft pick in next year's draft.

The organization is looking forward to the new season with great anticipation. Good luck to all teams and may the injury bug bite a bit less this year.

Tampa Bay Newsletter Sep 2022

By Jim Karsten Oct 2020 (Tampa Bay Lightning) On Saturday 10th September 2022 / 10:11pm

The offseason has brought some changes to the Lightning. The team is still in full rebuild. Last season, the team focused on goaltending. The focus this offseason has been on defence. With that in mind, the Lightning drafted Philip Broberg 15th overall.

The team drafted several other defencemen and picked up others in the Waiver draft.

Tampa lost both farm goalies in the waiver draft, so will be looking to replace them.

Looking forward to another season and exciting to see how the young additions to the team perform.

Jim, GM Tampa Bay Lightning.

Sabres Newsletter - September

By Jeff Maier (President) (July 2013) (Buffalo Sabres) On Saturday 10th September 2022 / 2:14pm

AP (BUFFALO) - Despite starting the offseason with no picks and just a few places out of the playoffs, so a weaker waiver draft spot, team management is okay with the player changes so far:

  • incoming:
    • rookies Moverare and Salo should help freshen the def corps over the next few years, and Peterson is ready to show his middle-six forward potential soon!
    • waiver catches: We knew we would likely lose a goalie in the draft, so jumped early on UP Luukkonen - he will keep Nedeljkovic honest sharing the net with Ullmark this year. Also grabbing Ylonen and Lind helps makes up for not having draft picks much of the last two years, as solid younger guys that know how to play.
  • outgoing:
    • losing vets like Staal and Tanev will hurt in the short-term, but we are not on the edge of the Finals so have the "luxury" of being able to let them go. Comrie was an expected loss, but having goalie depth again should help overcome that with potentially three starters on the roster. (future trade leverage?)

While fans here in Buffalo are very busy watching the NFL Bills play strong this season, the coaches hope they can bring the postseason back and rekindle some of the magic this franchise had 6-8 years ago =)

Jeff, Sabres
